EMS Week

About EMS Week

Each year during the third week of May, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is celebrated across our nation to acknowledge and thank our EMTs and Paramedics for the lifesaving work they do every day.  It is also a time to educate people about EMS and how it influences their lives each day. May 15-21, 2022, is the 47th annual National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities.

This week is highlighted by awards ceremonies, EMS appreciation days, memorials and educational seminars around the country. EMS Week is also utilized as a bookmark by industry leaders to look back at how much EMS has grown over the decades, and to look forward to what the future of EMS holds for improving patient care.
