EMS Week

About EMS Week

Each year during the third week of May, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is celebrated across our nation to acknowledge and thank our EMTs and Paramedics for the lifesaving work they do every day.  It is also a time to educate people about EMS and how it influences their lives each day. May 19 – 25, 2024, with mark the 50th anniversary of National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities.

This week is highlighted by awards ceremonies, EMS appreciation days, memorials and educational seminars around the country. EMS Week is also utilized as a bookmark by industry leaders to look back at how much EMS has grown over the decades, and to look forward to what the future of EMS holds for improving patient care.

EMS Recognition & Award Ceremony

The REMSCO NYC EMS Week celebration is highlighted each year by our annual EMS Awards Ceremony. These awards acknowledge the men and women in our city’s EMS community who have done extraordinary work to improve the EMS system, and the health and safety of NYC’s residents. These awards provide recognition in the fields of patient care, communications, leadership and innovation. This year’s EMS Week Recognition & Awards ceremony will be held Sunday, May 19th at Russo’s on the Bay in Queens. To learn more about our ceremony, visit this year’s award ceremony page.

Our event is only possible thanks to the generosity of our Sponsors. You can sponsor the ceremony itself, an Award or donate to the Walter F. Pizzi Scholarship. Visit our Sponsor page to learn more.
