In order to provide the level of care that most closely matches the perceived
need of patients requiring interfacility transport, the Regional Emergency Medical
Advisory Committee (REMAC) of New York City developed Interfacility Treatment
Protocols. This document reflects the changing field of out-of-hospital emergency
medicine and the continuous attempts of the emergency medical and trauma communities
in all provider sectors (municipal, voluntary hospital, proprietary, and volunteer),
acting in concert, to provide high-quality, state-of-the-art, out-of-hospital
emergency medical care to urgently ill and injured adults and children in the
New York City region.
